- The
U.S. Navy Hot Air Balloon Team - exists primarily to promote Navy recruiting in
communities nationwide. The secondary mission is to contribute to Navy public relations
through community and media exposure. The team travels to appearances throughout the
country, with the bulk of the appearances concentrated in the summer months (May through
October). A normal show season includes approximately 60 apearances at sites such as major
sporting events (NASCAR races, Kentucky Derby, Reno Air Races), events with large
concentrations of recruitable youngsters (Boy Scout Jamborees, etc.), major air shows, and
large ballooning events such as the Albuquerque Fiesta and National Ballooning
Championships.
